Simple Conjugations of Guérir (to Cure) in French
Simple Conjugations of Guà ©rir (to Cure) in French The action of healing is described in French by using the verbà guà ©rir. Literally meaning to cure, to heal, or to recover, it is a useful addition to your French vocabulary. Now, you just need to understand how to conjugate it. A quick lesson will demonstrate the simplest forms. Conjugating the French Verbà Guà ©rir Guà ©rirà is aà regular -IR verb, meaning it follows a relatively common conjugation pattern. When you learn the endings for this verb, they can be applied to many others, includingà grandirà (to grow) andà grossirà (to grow fat). As with any French verb conjugation, begin by identifying the verb stem. Forà guà ©rir, this isà guà ©r-. To this, a variety of infinitive endings is added to match the subject pronoun with the present, future, or imperfect past tense. For example, I am healing is je guà ©ris and we will cure is nous guà ©rirons. Subject Present Future Imperfect je guà ©ris guà ©rirai guà ©rissais tu guà ©ris guà ©riras guà ©rissais il guà ©rit guà ©rira guà ©rissait nous guà ©rissons guà ©rirons guà ©rissions vous guà ©rissez guà ©rirez guà ©rissiez ils guà ©rissent guà ©riront guà ©rissaient The Present Participle ofà Guà ©rir Add -antà to the verb stem ofà guà ©rirà to create theà present participleà guà ©rissant. It is a verb, though, in certain contexts, it can also be used as an adjective, gerund, or noun. The Past Participle and Passà © Composà © Theà past participleà ofà guà ©rirà isà guà ©ri. This is used along with a conjugate of the auxiliary verbà avoirà to create a common past tense in French known as theà passà © composà ©. Its rather easy to construct: I recovered becomes jai guà ©ri and we have cured is nous avons guà ©ri. More Simpleà Guà ©rirà Conjugations to Learn When the action of healing, curing, or recovering is somehow questionable or uncertain, you can use the subjunctive verb mood. In a similar fashion, if the action is dependent on something else also occurring, then the conditional verb form may be used. Those two are great for casual conversation, though the passà © simple and the imperfect subjunctive are literary forms. While you may not use these yourself, its a sound idea to be able to associate them withà guà ©rir. Subject Subjunctive Conditional Passà © Simple Imperfect Subjunctive je guà ©risse guà ©rirais guà ©ris guà ©risse tu guà ©risses guà ©rirais guà ©ris guà ©risses il guà ©risse guà ©rirait guà ©rit guà ©rà ®t nous guà ©rissions guà ©ririons guà ©rà ®mes guà ©rissions vous guà ©rissiez guà ©ririez guà ©rà ®tes guà ©rissiez ils guà ©rissent guà ©riraient guà ©rirent guà ©rissent To expressà guà ©rirà in short requests and demands, the imperative verb mood is used. For this, theres no need to include the subject pronoun, so tu guà ©ris can be simplified to guà ©ris. Imperative (tu) guà ©ris (nous) guà ©rissons (vous) guà ©rissez

Careless Human Environmental Destruction
Careless Human Environmental Destruction For many reasons the human race could be called a blessing. Great advanced in technology, medicine and even the fact we are the most sophisticated species on the planet. Are we a gift to planet Earth, or far from it? With cast amounts of pollution and destruction of the planet, not to mention unthinkable acts of violence and hate that has been going on since the beginning of time. Are we really as sophisticated and important as we have led ourselves to believe? Are we any better than any other creature because we are more technologically advanced? Is the human race a blessing? Humans have destroyed and endangered more species on our planet than any other species or group, with our continuous pollution and lack of respect for out own environment. One area of the world affected by our careless habits is our coastlines and the marine habitats that vast amounts of species rely on. These particular areas of the world are being destroyed because humans donââ¬â¢t seem to care as long as they make a couple of dollars in the process. Oil spills like the one in the Prince William Sound on the coast of Alaska and Hawaiian sea turtles and their many troubles with humans are just some examples of human carelessness and the consequences that the environment, particularly marine wildlife incur, which often are fatal. I chose this particular subject because I find the ocean and itââ¬â¢s unique and rare inhabitants to be interesting. Every coastline has its one unique species and no two areas are the same. I wanted to learn more about how humans are destroying the habitats of these unique creatures. I found that all species are in someway being threatened by human dominance and carelessness. From the common flounder or sea star you can find when you walk across the beach to a rare fish like the coelacanth (prehistoric fish that was believed to be extinct until one was caught off the coat of Madagascar by a local commercial fisherman until in the 1950ââ¬â¢s). The ocean can be a calm and loving but can easily turn into a vicious killer within seconds. All of these things are what I find so interesting about the ocean. I wanted to find out why people can continue to destroy it even though they know the effect of their actions. I guess some people are ignorant and just donââ¬â¢t care if they destroy the things that make our environment so beautiful. One example of our careless destruction of our environment is the Exxon Valdez oil spill off the coast of Alaska in 1989. The Prince William Sound still shows signs of the oil spill tem years later. Most species have recovered since the spill, but many are still suffering. The Harbor Seal and herring are just two who are vital to the survival of all the species in the area. Herring are the main source of food for many species in the area, including humans. (Mitchell, p.98) ââ¬Å"The ecosystem is gradually recovering from the spill,â⬠says Molly McCammon, an Executive director of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council, ââ¬Å"but it will never be the same as it was twenty years ago.â⬠The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council was founded to oversee the use of nine hundred million dollars to the area by the government after settling with the Exxon Company for one billion dollars in criminal and civil damages. One serious problem in the aftermath of Exxon Valdez is the decline of herring. (The table shows the chave in populations of Prince William Sound before and after the Exxon Valdez spill.)

Lap - Lab Report Example Directly facing Polaris, the sky chart led to the location of the Big Dipper. The two locations were charted. By pointing one finger at Polaris and one at the middle of the ââ¬Å"cupâ⬠of the Big Dipper, the relative angle to the earth position was estimated. Each 45 minutes thereafter, the same observations occurred and those findings charted. Conclusions and Analysis: Since the earth rotates toward the east, the Big Dipper appears to rise in relationship to the more westward star, Polaris. Lifelong observations of the sun and moon bear out this rising and setting phenomenon; however, viewing the path relative to another fixed point in space adds a layer of comprehension to the process. Interestingly, the Big Dipper, at first observation, seemed to be moving slightly east because the tail moved east relative to earthââ¬â¢s horizon. By measuring to the middle of the ââ¬Å"cupâ⬠, the land visual cues were eliminated, and the Dipper then appeared to simply rise straight up. The results are as expected. Polaris does not move east or west noticeably, but does appear to rise then fall. The Big Dipper rises, but stays in a steady horizontal position from Polaris, but rises as Polaris falls during the observed

Importance of Command Essay Example for Free
Importance of Command Essay The chain of command is an important structure in the military. First it allows problem to be handled at the lowest level possible in the command. If a military personnel has a problem he would go to his NCO first before going to their SCNOs or Commander; this way he isnââ¬â¢t stepping on peopleââ¬â¢s feet and everyone is aware of the situation so they can get it fixed. You also have to think of it in a war situation. If there was no chain of command then everyone would think they are in charge. If an NCO tells a private to go do this, then the private knows to just go do it. If there was no chain of command then the private would probably try and tell the NCO off and then he will probably end up getting shot by the enemy. You work your way through the chain of command by rank and experience. This is why no one is going to question an order coming from someone higher ranking with more experience. As well as if the person believes that their situation needs to be addressed and executes the wrong decision then what more can that person do? Everyone learns through their mistakes and no one is perfect in this world, but with a bad situation comes with bad judgment and lack of decision making. In the civilian world they also use Chain of Command as well for example, most organizations have an established chain of command that is essential for effective management, accountability, and a strong means of operation. Whether its because individuals now have higher expectations or perhaps it is simply out of force of habit, many of us want to go right to the top with our complaints. In terms of fairness and efficiency, this is not appropriate for their athlete programs as it creates the necessity for an established chain of command. As a leader, you must start by educating everyone on the significance of your chain of command. You can do this in a variety of ways to give the person in need of dire help ready for anything. We initially cover the chain of command in boot camp when a recruit needs to use the head or needs to go to medical for any apparent reason. Because of the strong support from our Chain of Command and our efforts to educate and communicate and have high expectations, most new military personnel observe the neglect as if no one cares for them. For this they need to be supportive to them and give them that security that everything is getting handled as fast as they can, as a result this will significantly decrease the number of complaints and any further problems that may occur or rise. In any situation the NCOs will tell the lower rank have you mentioned this to anyone or how long has this problem been going on. In any form of situation regardless if they brought it up or not, the chain of command needs to be properly used in order for the personnel not to get in any trouble. Back to summarizing boot camp; while the recruits were in the depot they arenââ¬â¢t used to being yelled at or being bossed around like if they werenââ¬â¢t anything but as the days went on they grew accustomed to the new procedures that they were doing. Whatever the reason they needed to talk to the Drill Instructor, they went and knocked at the hatch of their doors and said the correct phrase and correct greeting of the day. After being heard they would ask the Drill Instructor if they could use the head or go to medical or go to dental or if they have any financial issues back home or had to go the bank or post office for any reason. It not only starts while youââ¬â¢re in boot camp but as being back home when you were still a civilian. When you need something you were still using your chain of command with your parents, depending which one was more soft or tough on you thatââ¬â¢s the person you would go talk to about whatever you needed or wanted. For example, if you needed gas money or a ride to the movies you would ask your parents, could have been your mother you ask because she could be the soft one that would allow you to go or give you money of any kind. As a result not only do we use chain of command in the military but we used it back home and never realized it until you enlist in the military and experience it yourself. Leadership, accountability, efficiency, morale, and a sense of order all depend upon your chain of command. Why it is important to follow proper instruction procedures in the military is for many reasons. As military personnel, it is our responsibility to not only follow instruction/orders, but to execute the command. Not following orders can result into consequences not only for the personnel whom committed not following instructions, but also it can put others at risk too. Like your NCO in charge of you, to your Team Leader, to your Platoon Sergeant, to your 1st Sergeant, to your Company Commander, to your Brigade Commander, and so on. Not only can your NCO in charge of you, your Team Leader, your Platoon Sergeant, your 1st Sergeant, your Company Commander, and your Brigade Commander could all get into trouble for your actions of not following direct instructions/orders. But some may lose rank in the process including the personnel whom didnââ¬â¢t follow the specific instructions/orders giving by a personnel higher rank than those individual personnel. Also when you are down range deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea, and other combat places we have our units fighting the war at, not only can a personnel lose rank but in fact not following directions/orders you could get a personnel fighting alongside of you in the war killed in combat but you as well. Try to explain to a spouse, or a mother and father, better yet the personnel kids that the reason why your parent, father or mother isnââ¬â¢t coming home to see you is because you failed to follow proper instructions/ orders giving to you and that is why your parent father or mother isnââ¬â¢t coming home to you. Not only is it important to follow instructions/orders, but you as the military personnel could lose rank. The purpose of the Chain of Command is to install structure, discipline and respect into newer enlisted military personnel. Each branch has its own secretary that assigns forces under their jurisdictions to unify and specific commanders they perform missions and report back to their chain of command. The chain of command starts with the Commander-in-Chief (the U. S. President) and works its way down to the lowest ranking private in the Army, Navy or Marine Corps. Within the military, the chain of command is a method for leading and communicating. In addition to being a chain of command within the officer ranks, one of the main purposes of the chain of command is to be the back bone of the NCO support channel. The discipline and order that the every branch maintains is what makes their branch the strongest in the world. From the moment you raise your hand and join the military you do as you are instructed at any time to complete any mission during the time allotted, once completed whoever at the time has to report back to the Chain of Command. The chain of command is extremely important. The importance of the chain of command is that it provides stability inside the work place for when incidents come about that need to be dealt with it sets up the structure for which you report all good and bad thing accidents, mistakes, tardiness, and anything that can allow the mission of the day to be slowed down. All incidents in essence are intended to be dealt with on the lowest level before it is brought up to highest personnel as well as other reasons such as it helps build leadership, responsibility and common knowledge of how to run a stable work place. Such as the leadership aspect it helps people who are or would not normally be able to take control of situations and control how things are ran they can take control and help whoever it is with the problem When it works well. When it doesnt work right, leadership is ineffective and some personnel end up doing other peoples jobs for them.

Justice and Social Order in The Oresteia Essay -- Aeschylus Oresteia
Justice and Social Order in The Oresteiaà à Democracy, emerging in the city-state of Athens, allowed unprecedented power to her citizens. Among these new powers was the ability to legislate. Yet, legislation was not without its problems. First the citizens must agree upon what is just and unjust, and then enforce the law by bringing the unjust to reconcile their guilt with the public through trial, and finally dispense the appropriate penalty. This evolution was not without concern. The Greeks were attempting to establish a governmental system which would span the middle ground between anarchy and despotism. By the crimes played out in Aeschylus' tragic trilogy The Oresteia, Aeschylus demonstrates the contrast between anarchy and despotism, and judges them both guilty. Indeed he shows, by the end of the play, that the only way man can be absolved of guilt is by joining leagues with the gods in a united effort to promote justice. His premise is supported by sequentially following the criminal legacy of the house of Atreus, and showing that the curse of continued injustice can only be ended by the cooperative effort of man and god. Aeschylus draws his contrast between anarchy and despotism through the main characters in the play. First Atreus, the father of Agamemnon, though never appearing himself in the trilogy is a central figure and the vehicle by which the curse is introduced. His crime is that of anarchy. Second, Agamemnon returns from Troy with the blood guilt of despotism. Next, Clytemnestra, Agamemnon's queen, represents a mixture of the two evils in that she portrays a self-serving ruler. Finally Orestes, son of Agamemnon, is introduced as a pious man who allows his fate to be determined by the gods in conjuncti... ... of the trilogy it was demonstrated the power that democracy wielded. It was able to eliminate anarchy and despotism by the middle ground. Although this had previously been the role of the Erinyes (Eu., ln.526-30), they had through the play proven themselves unsuccessful. Thus at the end of the Eumenides, Aeschylus has the Furies relinquish governance of the city to the citizens, and bestow honor on the people (Eu., ln.1016-20). Therefore Aeschylus demonstrated that democracy allowed for the union between man and gods that neither anarchy or despotism could achieve. Moreover, it was only through this union that justice could be served and the ancient laws and ways could be overturned. With this new social order, man celebrated unprecedented equality, honor and prosperity Works Cited: Aeschylus. Oresteia. Trans. Peter Meineck. Indianapolis: Hackett, 1998.
